Cold Feet fans have said goodbye to the hit TV series, more than 20 years after it first graced our screens.

The show centered on the lives of five characters: Adam, Pete, Jenny, David and Karen, as they navigate their way through modern life and all its highs and lows.

Cold Feet was originally on TV from 1998 to 2003 before being rebooted in 2016. The final episode of the eighth and final season aired on Monday night.

With plenty of ensemble scenes and a major storyline that brought the cast together for much of the action, series eight has harked back to the original series one to five, before the 2016 reboot, when the friends were at their most close-knit.

The show gave Coleraine actor James Nesbitt his big break two decades ago and the latest series featured old footage shown during flashbacks.

As the show's final credits rolled, fans took to social media to say goodbye.

"Possibly the best series in 22 years, brilliant telly," one viewer wrote on Twitter.

"Nothing beats relatable, real life television. Yet another brilliant series of #ColdFeet," said another.

Some viewers weren't too happy the show won't be returning to our screens.

"Please, for the love of god bring back another series, it can never end!" one fan said.

Another fan wrote: "Great finale #ColdFeet didn't expect anything else, wonderful writing, top acting and much more by all concerned across the board, but please can we have another series."
