Michael Fassbender is in talks to join Danny Boyle on edgy thriller Trance, it has been reported.
The Inglourious Basterds star is the first actor to be linked to the director's next film, a remake of Joe Ahearne's 2003 TV movie, said The Hollywood Reporter.
If it works out, Michael would play the shady leader of a gang of thieves as they decide to steal art from an auction house.
The Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire filmmaker will co-produce Trance with producing partner Christian Colson and plans to begin shooting in the autumn, before he gets to work on the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics, which he is overseeing.
He will continue production on the film after the sports tournament, with a film release set for 2013.
German-born Michael has been busy since starring in Steve McQueen's Hunger and Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. He will next be seen as Magneto in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class and is currently filming Ridley Scott's Prometheus with Noomi Rapace.
