Foxx: Stacks is based on P Diddy
Jamie Foxx has revealed his character in Annie is inspired by Sean 'P Diddy' Combs.
The White House Down star admitted he looked to the hip-hop mogul for his portrayal of billionaire Benjamin Stacks in the upcoming musical remake, based on the 1982 film.
He told US talk show host Katie Couric: "I'm a cellular phone mogul. I'm running through the streets of New York, I'm trying to be mayor.
"And to be honest with you, I'm letting the cat out the bag just a little bit, I'm sort of mirroring Puffy a little bit," he added.
Oscar-nominated Beasts Of The Southern Wild star Quvenzhane Wallis is set to star as little orphan Annie, with Cameron Diaz as cruel orphanage owner Miss Hannigan in Will Gluck's version, produced by Jay Z and Will Smith.
Will's daughter Willow was originally in line for the title role, but Quvenzhane stepped in when she decided to leave the project.
Rapper Jay Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, is also working on the soundtrack for Annie, which is set in present-day New York City. Emma Thompson wrote the script.
Shooting for Annie began in September, with a release expected in December 2014.
