Game of Thrones Season 5: Be among the first to see premiere with Belfast Film Festival

Calling all Game of Thrones fans - fancy being among the first to see the premier episode of season five?

Fans of the medieval fantasy will be in with a chance to see the first episode before its UK television debut on Sky Atlantic April 13 on the big screen at the Movie House Dublin Road.

Belfast Film Festival, together with 02, begins on April 16, but festival organisers have secured an early premiere on Wednesday April 1.

Based on the bestselling book series by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones is an epic drama set in the world of Westeros, where ambitious men and women of both honour and ill-repute live in a land whose summers and winters can last years.

More than 7,000 people applied to the online lottery for Season 4 preview tickets within hours of the announcement of the special screening during last year’s Belfast Film Festival.

Belfast Film Festival Director Michele Devlin said: “With filming taking place at locations in Northern Ireland, and the cast list being a who’s who of local acting talent including Conleth Hill and Richard Dormer, Game of Thrones is obviously hugely popular with our audiences.

"And clearly the chance to see episode 1 of Season 5 well in advance of its TV debut and with the added dimension of a cinematic experience is quite a coup for Belfast Film Festival. We’re delighted to be partnering with HBO on making this an extra special premiere to get April, and our Festival, off to a dramatic blood-soaked, sword-wielding start.”

To apply for tickets, log on to by Tuesday March 31 at 12 noon.  Winners will be chosen at random and notified as soon as possible.
