Gordon-Levitt 'to direct Sandman'
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to star in and direct a movie version of comic book The Sandman, according to reports.
The Dark Knight Rises star is finalising a deal to produce the film at Warner Bros with David Goyer, who wrote the screenplays for Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight franchise, according to Deadline.
The Sandman, written by Neil Gaiman for Vertigo comics, centres around Dream, the Lord of Dreams, also known as Morpheus, who is the personification of dreams. After being held captive 70 years, Morpheus escapes, gains revenge and rebuilds his crumbling kingdom while trying to adapt to the times.
Joseph, who played Robin in The Dark Knight Rises, won critical acclaim on the festival circuit for his directorial debut Don Jon this year.
Goyer has pitched his treatment The Sandman to Warner and they are expected to hire a writer shortly.
