HBO Spain accidentally leaks new Game of Thrones episode

The sixth episode of the new series of Game of Thrones has been accidentally leaked, four days before it was due to be broadcast.

HBO Spain reportedly made the upcoming episode - titled 'Death is the Enemy' - available on-demand to Spanish subscribers for one hour before being removed.

However this was plenty of time for it to be shared, with HD copies being posted on Reddit via YouTube, Instagram, Twitch and other streaming services.

Despite HBO's attempts to remove the links online, more have been appearing.

This is the second time a leak of this nature has happened for Game of Thrones, with HBO's Nordic arm accidentally uploading an episode of season six a few hours before it was to be officially broadcast.

The latest leak comes after HBO was hacked by a group who claimed to have stolen 1.5TB of data and have been trickling out the stolen information over several weeks.

This included episode scripts for the current series.

Meanwhile, Indian police reportedly arrested four former and current employees of Prime Focus Technology, a Mumbai-based company that stores the series for an Indian network, over the leak of episode four of the current season.

Game Of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau this week said ratings will not be damaged by leaked episodes as well as spoilers released after the HBO hack.

“There were always going to be people who want to find out more but I think it’s just a tiny, tiny fraction of the people who love the show,” Coster-Waldau told the Press Association in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

“Why would you want to spoil it for yourself?

“We saw it last week, there was an episode leaked, episode four was leaked, that didn’t hurt the ratings at all.”

Following the Spanish leak, fans took to Twitter to share their fears and disappointment over spoilers now that the next instalment is available to watch.

One wrote that "August is dark and full of spoilers" while another said the series has been "ruined by people".

They added that Game Of Thrones is "no longer considered the best show of all time, spoilers hindered the series".

One fan lamented having to avoid spoilers for several days, writing: "I usually have to go a day without #GameOfThrones spoilers ... but now I have to go for a week?!?"

"HBO Spain leaking next weeks episode of game of thrones was funny until i saw and spoiler and now want to be burnt by a dragon," another said.

However, some devotees of the multi award-winning show were delighted they were able to see episode six early.

One wrote: "Nothing better than when you wake up and find out game of thrones has been leaked early."
