Hedlund takes an Unbroken role
Garrett Hedlund has reportedly signed up for a role in Angelina Jolie's upcoming drama Unbroken.
The Tron: Legacy actor is tipped to play Commander John Fitzgerald in the World War II film, which Angelina will take the reins on and produce, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Former Skins star Jack O'Connell will take the lead to play war hero Louis Zamperini, a former Olympic long-distance runner who joined the US Air Force in 1941. He survived without food and water, and shark attacks for 47 days after his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean in 1943, and was held as a prisoner of war for two years after he was captured by the Japanese.
Ethan and Joel Coen have written a new draft of the screenplay for Universal, which is based on Laura Hillenbrand's 2010 book, Unbroken: A World War II Story Of Survival, Resilience, And Redemption.
Shooting is expected to get under way in October, in time for a release in December 2014.
Garrett, 29, previously starred in On The Road and Troy, and will next appear in the Coen brothers' musical biopic Inside Llewyn Davis.
Unbroken will be the second film Angelina will direct, following her debut with Bosnian war romance In The Land Of Blood And Honey in 2011.
