Hugh Jackman escapes Houdini role
Hugh Jackman has done a disappearing act from the cast list of the upcoming Broadway show Houdini.
The Wolverine actor has exited the show because of his filming commitments, according to Deadline.
Hugh was supposed to take on a starring role in the stage musical, but has released a statement to say that he is dropping out of the project because he needs to free up time for other work.
He said: "I have greatly enjoyed the collaborative process on Houdini. Ultimately, though, I wasn't able to commit to the time this role will require. I have tremendous respect and admiration for the creative team and I wish everyone the best. I know they're well on their way to making something extraordinary."
The star is going to be busy with upcoming projects which look set to include another instalment of Wolverine and an adaptation of Harlan Coben novel Six Years.
Aaron Sorkin also had to leave the project earlier this year because of scheduling difficulties.
