I’ll be rooting for Marcus in X Factor final, says Janet

By Maureen Coleman

Flame-haired singer Janet Devlin will be supporting Marcus Collins tonight as he attempts to win this year's X Factor.

The Gortin girl, who made it to the final five, wants the Liverpool hairdresser to win, but thinks girl group Little Mix could give him a run for his money.

In a series of tweets last weekend, Janet revealed that she was watching the semi-final from her hotel bedroom and was throwing her weight behind Marcus. She tweeted: “C'mon wee Marcus”, then later took to Twitter to tell her fans she voted for him.

She told Digital Spy: “Top two in my head are Marcus and Little Mix. But whoever wins doesn't matter, because both those two have a great work ethic and they're really deserving.”

But there was no mention of third finalist Amelia Lily, voted back into the show by the public following the departure of Frankie Cocozza.

Janet went public with her support for Marcus before both Amelia Lily and Misha B performed last weekend.

The three go into the final with the result too close to call. Little Mix could make X Factor history if they become the first group to win the ITV1 talent show.

Bookies are reporting a flurry of bets on Collins, who could cash in on the popularity of his mentor, Gary Barlow, when they perform a duet tomorrow night.

William Hill cut the odds on the young Liverpudlian from 5/2 to 2/1 when it was confirmed that the acts would duet with mentors at Wembley Arena.

The bookmakers put Little Mix at 5/4 to win, with Amelia Lily at 5/2. Show host Dermot O'Leary, admitted it is impossible to pick a winner. He said: “It's my first year when we're going into the final and we don't really know who the favourite is.”

One act will be kicked off the show tomorrow, leaving the final two to fight it out on Sunday, but all three acts have already recorded a version of the same song, thought to be a cover of Damien Rice's Cannonball, due to be released by the winner in time for Christmas.

This year's X Factor has seen falling ratings.
