Tom Cruise's next Mission: Impossible film will reportedly be penned by one of the writers of Iron Man 3.
It was recently revealed that Hollywood superstar Tom is set to reprise the role of spy Ethan Hunt in a fifth film, but plot, cast and crew details were not announced.
However, The Hollywood Reporter said that Drew Pearce, who co-wrote the superhero sequel and has also been working on Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Pacific Rim, is on writing duty.
The industry magazine also reports that Christopher McQuarrie - who was at the helm of Tom's film Jack Reacher - is in discussions to direct.
JJ Abrams' production company Bad Robot will produce the movie.
The Star Trek Into Darkness filmmaker made his film directorial debut on Mission: Impossible III, with Brad Bird making his live-action directing debut on the fourth film, 2011's Ghost Protocol.
