Jared Leto in talks for Brilliance
Jared Leto is tipped to replace Will Smith in sci-fi movie Brilliance.
The actor, who won an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club earlier this year, is in early talks to star in the big screen adaptation of Marcus Sakey's 2013 novel, reported Deadline.
He would be taking on the role previously earmarked for Will, who pulled out in May for scheduling reasons.
If Jared, 42, signs up it will be his first starring role since he picked up the Academy Award for his performance as transgender drug addict Rayon.
Noomi Rapace is set to play the female lead in director Julius Onah's film.
Brilliance is set in a world where people are born with extraordinary abilities, and are known as "brilliants".
One federal agent uses his hunting gifts to hunt down a terrorist, another "brilliant", who plans to start a civil war.
The movie could become a franchise, as author Sakey's novel is the first of a planned three-book series.
