Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will have an adventure like never before as he joins the cast of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, according to reports.
The former wrestler and Tooth Fairy actor is in talks to step into Brendan Fraser's shoes for the forthcoming sequel of Journey To The Centre Of The Earth 3D, reports Heat Vision Blog.
Josh Hutcherson is reprising his role as young explorer Sean Anderson and Dwayne, who is currently filming The Fast And The Furious 5, will play his mum's boyfriend.
He accompanies the duo as they head on a trip to a mythical and monstrous island to find Sean's missing grandfather in the film, which is loosely based on Jules Verne's The Mysterious Island.
Brendan decided not to return as Professor Trevor Anderson after hitting an impasse over start dates.
Three other characters, to be introduced in the 3D sequel, will be cast over the next few weeks. Production is eyeing a late October start in North Carolina and Hawaii.
