Jones: Hunger Games is for my kids

Toby Jones has revealed that he signed up to The Hunger Games films for his children.

The British actor, who has two daughters, will reprise his role as the Games announcer Claudius Templesmith in the next instalment, Mockingjay - Part 1, alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.

"I get asked every so often to go to Atlanta to film with Stanley Tucci, which is always a great pleasure because we improvise what we have to do. But I'm there for literally a day," he said.

"I don't feel a huge massive connection with the project. That's it. My kids are both huge fans of it so it's their thrill that I'm involved with it."

Toby said despite her Oscar win, Jennifer - who plays heroine Katniss Everdeen - remains grounded.

" I've worked with Jennifer on other films and it's so interesting because she's such a smart, clever actress," he said. "You'd think there would be a danger of it swamping her but it never does."

The 47-year-old, who has appeared in the Harry Potter films and played Truman Capote and Alfred Hitchcock, was at San Diego's Comic-Con to promote Wayward Pines, the first TV show from director M Night Shyamalan.

Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino, Terrence Howard and Melissa Leo also star in the thriller, which will be shown on Fox in 2015.

"The offer to do this came out of the blue. When they told me the arc of the story and my character, it was so incredible to me, I couldn't believe it," he recalled.

"It was impossible to turn it down because the people involved in it were so good that I thought they would do it very well."
