Anna Kendrick is to star as Poppy the troll in an upcoming musical comedy.
The Pitch Perfect star will have to tune up her vocal cords for DreamWorks Animation's Trolls, where she will play the upbeat princess with the wild and colourful hair, reported Variety.
"Anna has proven herself to be a brilliant actress with an amazing singing voice," the film's director Mike Mitchell said.
"She'll inject Poppy with the exact mix of spirit, sass and song that will no doubt give a whole new life to the iconic Troll dolls."
The film, which is scheduled for release in November 2016, features the colourful big-haired dolls, that gained popularity during the 1960s and then again in the 1990s.
The Troll dolls were first created in 1959 by Danish fisherman and woodcutter Thomas Dam as a present for his daughter. DreamWorks Animation paired up with Trolls rights holder Dam Things in 2013 to adapt the dolls into films and TV shows.
Anna, who next stars in Disney's musical Into The Woods alongside Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep, has been filming Pitch Perfect 2.
"Good news from the set of Pitch Perfect. Beca still mostly wears long pants and boots, so I basically never have to shave my legs. Or feet," she tweeted.
