Nicole Kidman has admitted she was desperately lonely after winning her Oscar - because she didn't have a partner to share it with.
The actress scooped the Academy Award for The Hours in 2003, two years after she was divorced from Tom Cruise.
"When I won the Oscar, I went home and I didn't have (love) in my life," said the star.
"That was the most intensely lonely experience in my life."
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival as she promoted her new movie Grace Of Monaco, Nicole confessed her personal life and career never seem to thrive at the same time.
"Strangely for me, the greatest highs have coincided with the greatest lows," she said.
"So (during) my professional highs a lot of times I've had personal lows and they've collided. That's always aggravated me that it's gone that way. I'm hoping one day I can have a professional high and a personal high."
Nicole, now married to country music star Keith Urban, said she drew from her own life to empathise with Grace Kelly when she was making the biopic.
"I am married to a prince," she said. "A country prince."
