Kruger seeks out role in The Host
Diane Kruger is said to be in talks to star in sci-fi movie The Host.
The Inglourious Basterds actress could be joining Andrew Niccol's big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel, reported Deadline.
Saoirse Ronan is already on board as rebel soldier Melanie Stryder, a young woman whose body is invaded by an alien named Wanderer, with Diane's character as The Seeker, an invading soul.
Max Irons has been cast as Jared Howe, a young man in love with Melanie, while Jake Abel is set to portray Ian, who is in love with Wanderer, leading to a complicated love triangle.
William Hurt had also been in negotiations to take the pivotal role of Melanie's eccentric uncle Jeb in the upcoming movie, which is scheduled for a spring 2013 release.
Diane - who last shared screen time opposite Liam Neeson in tense thriller Unknown - will take to the throne as Marie Antoinette alongside Lea Seydoux and Virginie Ledoyen in French drama Farewell, My Queen, which will open and premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 9.
