LaBeouf grabs horror role by Horns

Shia LaBeouf is diving head first into his new role, starring in a movie adaptation of the hit horror novel Horns.

The Transformers star will play Ig Perrish, a 26-year-old who wakes up after a black-out, hungover, to find horns growing out of his head, and his girlfriend murdered, only to find his horns grow bigger as he investigates the killing.

The story of a man in love driven by horror and vengeance is being adapted for the big screen by In Treatment's Keith Bunin, Variety reports.

Producer Cathy Schulman said: "Shia is an extremely gifted actor who responded to this novel with total enthusiasm from the beginning. We share a passion to bring the iconic character of Ig Perrish to life."

Joe Hill, son of Stephen King, wrote the best-selling book and is to be an executive producer on the project.

The film rights to his debut novel, the New York Times best-seller Heart-Shaped Box, were previously bought by Warner Bros.
