Lead movie role for Delevingne

Cara Delevingne has said she's "so excited" after landing a starring role in a hotly-tipped new movie.

The British model - who has already been branching out into films such as Anna Karenina, London Fields and Pan - will lead the movie Paper Towns.

The film is likely to boost Cara's Hollywood presence as it is based on a book by John Green, best-selling author of massive hit The Fault In Our Stars.

The author has already tweeted his delight that the model has been cast, saying: "VERY EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! @Caradelevingne will play Margo Roth Spiegelman in the Paper Towns movie."

He went on: "Cara Delevigne's audition blew everyone away (including me!) and she understands Margo profoundly. I am so excited!"

After director Jake Schreier also praised Cara, 22, she tweeted: "Thank you so much guys!! I am so excited! Ahhhh! X."

The film is about young neighbours Margo (Cara) and Quentin, who find the body of someone who commits suicide. They grow apart until they get older, when Margo gets Quentin to help her get revenge on the people she feels have hurt her. She then goes missing and he must follow a series of clues to try and find her.

Nat Wolff is also set to star in Paper Towns, as the male lead.
