Liam Neeson tipped for Men in Black spin-off with Chris Hemsworth
Liam Neeson could be set to appear in another huge movie franchise - this time with a more comedic tone.
The Ballymena actor is in talks to star opposite Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in the new Men in Black spin off, according to Variety.
The original movie was released in 1997 and starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.
The pair portrayed secret agents who protected Earth from rogue aliens living amongst us.
Neeson, 65, is said to be taking on the role of head of the UK branch of the Men in Black agency.
Rip Torn appeared on screen as the US MIB boss in the original films.
F Gary Grey will direct while Steven Spielberg will act as executive producer.
Neeson has reinvented himself as an action hero in recent years, following roles in the Taken franchise as well as Non-Stop and The Commuter.
He will next appear in Widows, Steve McQueen's film based on a Gillian Flynn novel.
In July he is set to begin filming a new production called Normal People in Belfast, alongside Oscar and Bafta nominated actress Lesley Manville.
The film - based on a play by Irish playwright Owen McCafferty - will be directed by Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn, who also helmed the 2012 Belfast-set film Good Vibrations.
