Lily Collins' real life fairytale

Lily Collins has said her childhood growing up with singer dad Phil Collins in the British countryside was like a fairytale.

The 23-year-old - who stars as princess Snow White in new fairytale film Mirror Mirror - lived in West Sussex until she was six with Phil and her American mother Jill Tavelman, although her parents split when she was five.

Lily told The Daily Mail: "They read fairytales to me every night before bedtime.

"I grew up in the countryside, so I just ran around the garden pretending there was magic and fairies and I was part of a fairytale."

Lily, who stars in the film with Julia Roberts, also revealed if she hadn't become an actress she would have become a journalist.

The Abduction star majored in journalism at the University of California and has had several articles published in the US and the UK.

She said: "I'm a journalist every day. I'm genuinely curious. I ask questions and I love meeting new people.

"I write a journal every day. I keep the core essence of a journalist."
