Anthony Mackie is set to play Olympic runner Jesse Owens in a film about his life.
The Captain America: Winter Soldier star has teamed up with his We Are Marshall writer Jamie Linden and they plan to produce the biopic, Deadline reported.
Black athlete Owens famously competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where he won four gold medals in the shadow of Hitler's Nazi regime.
The planned biopic has been scripted by George Olson under Anthony and Jamie's supervision.
It is the latest in a crowded race of planned films about Owens.
Disney is developing a movie based on Jeremy Schaap's biography Triumph, with The King's Speech writer David Seidler penning the script, and Home Again's Stephan James is lined up to star in a film about the Olympic medallist, directed by Lost In Space's Stephen Hopkins.
