Mara to join Jonze's new drama?

Rooney Mara is in final negotiations to take over from Carey Mulligan in Spike Jonze's upcoming drama.

The Oscar-nominated Girl With The Dragon Tattoo actress could be stepping in for the British starlet, who has apparently left due to scheduling conflicts, reported Variety.

Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Samantha Morton are already on board on the as-yet-untitled project about a man who falls in love with the voice of a computer, which Spike has written and will direct.

It would be his first film since 2009's Where The Wild Things Are, although details about their roles are being kept under wraps.

Rooney - who has also appeared in David Fincher's The Social Network - is expected to start work on Spike's film once she's done on Steven Soderbergh's The Bitter Pill.

The 27-year-old, who is also expected to begin filming The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo sequel, The Girl Who Played With Fire, has recently worked on Terrence Malick's Lawless with Ryan Gosling.
