Michael Caine has swapped the gloomy British weather for the exotic climes of Hawaii for the filming of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
The Inception actor has begun filming the sequel to Journey To The Centre Of The Earth 3D with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Kristin Davis, Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens.
Josh will reprise his role as young adventurer Sean Anderson, with Dwayne and Sex And The City actress Kristin as his parents. Michael will play his grandfather as they embark on an adventure to find a mysterious island.
According to a statement, the new journey begins when Sean receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist - a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one secret. They set out to find the island, rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force it under the sea and bury its treasures forever.
From Hawaii, production will move to North Carolina in January 2011.
