Bette Midler is to play late Hollywood star Mae West in a new biopic.
The 68-year-old will portray the actress, singer and playwright in an HBO film called Mae West, reported Deadline.
Actress and singer Bette will also be an executive producer on the project, which is based on Mae's 1959 autobiography Goodness Had Nothing To Do With It.
The TV film is expected to chart the early years of Mae's rise to stardom and will include her battles with censors over risque material.
Mae West will be directed by William Friedkin, who will also executive produce alongside Bette and Jerry Weintraub.
Mae died on November 22, 1980, aged 87.
