Minaj ready for cartoon close-up
Nicki Minaj is set to get even more animated with her forthcoming role in Ice Age: Continental Drift.
The pop star, best known for her colourful hair and funky outfits, will lend her voice to one of the characters in the fourth instalment of the cartoon adventures, alongside Jeremy Renner, Ray Romano and Jennifer Lopez.
"I just was screaming and so excited, and I went in and I had a blast. I did it as two different voices. We'll see what happens," she told MTV.com.
The singer revealed how she got the part.
"I don't know how much I can talk about that, but I came about that when my agency sent me out on an audition for some people who wanted to hear me," she recalled.
"They knew I liked animation, they knew I liked to do voices, and so they said they were doing that and I thought, 'This is amazing'."
Getting a part in the film wasn't all that easy for the superstar.
Nicki said: "The original role that I was up for I didn't get. So I said, 'Oh, OK, whatever.' I was really mad, and the next thing you know, they called me and they said, 'We wrote in a part just for you because we really want you to be a part of this movie'."
Ray Romano (Manny), John Leguizamo (Sid) and Denis Leary (Diego) will reprise their roles as the popular trio in the 3D film, due for release in 2012.
