Demi Moore is seeking help for exhaustion and to improve her health.
The Hollywood star - who recently split from husband Ashton Kutcher - reportedly became unwell at home on Tuesday, with a source telling E! News she started "shaking" and otherwise "acting like she was suffering from a seizure".
A friend dialled the emergency services and Demi, 49, was taken to hospital, where she is now seeking professional help for exhaustion and to "improve her overall health".
Her representative said in a statement: "Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends."
The spokesperson also confirmed that Demi, who has three daughters with her ex-husband Bruce Willis, has dropped out of the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic.
The Margin Call actress was due to play feminist icon Gloria Steinem in Lovelace.
The past few months have been rocky for Demi.
She released a statement in November announcing she had decided to end her marriage to Two And A Half Men actor Kutcher following reports of his alleged infidelity.
The two were known to publicly share their affection for one another via Twitter. Demi still has a Twitter account under the name mrskutcher but has not posted any messages since January 7.
