Nadine Coyle hints she could be set to make appearance in next series of Derry Girls

Nadine Coyle has hinted she could be set to make an appearance in the next series of Derry Girls.

The six-part series is written by Derry native Lisa McGee and focuses on her own stories of growing up in the city in the early 1990s.

Channel 4's Northern Ireland-based comedy Derry Girls has become a huge hit in recent weeks.

And now one of Derry's most famous stars could be set to join.

The former Girls Aloud singer, who has previously commented on how much she is enjoying the programme, said she was in talks with the writer.

She told the Irish Daily Star: "Yes I’m going to speak to the writer about that.

“I’m going to call Lisa today actually, we’re sorting something out for the next series.”

She added: “It’s based on the same school I went to, the same Catholic school, so we have loads of similar experiences."

Channel 4's new Director of Programmes Ian Katz and Head of Comedy Fiona McDermott have ordered six more episodes of the NI-based comedy.

“Derry Girls is a blast of fresh air," Katz said.
