Naomie to play Winnie Mandela?
Naomie Harris is apparently in talks to star as Winnie Mandela in new Nelson Mandela biopic Long Walk To Freedom.
The Bond girl, who will soon appear in Skyfall, is tipped to join Idris Elba, who will star as the former South African leader, Screen Daily reports.
Justin Chadwick, who previously worked with Naomie in The First Grader, is thought to be in "advanced talks" to direct the big-screen adaptation of Mandela's memoir, which has been written by William Nicholson.
The anticipated biopic, believed to have the official backing of Mandela himself, has had a number of UK directors attached during its long development, including The King's Speech's Tom Hooper and Elizabeth's Shekhar Kapur.
Morgan Freeman was once attached to play Mandela, before he took the role in Clint Eastwood's Invictus.
Pre-production has begun, and filming is expected to start in South Africa in May.
The film is expected to be epic, as it charts Mandela's life including his 18 years of captivity on the notorious Robben Island under South African apartheid and his subsequent release, followed by his rise to the presidency.
