New Millennium Falcon revealed
Star Wars' newest incarnation of the Millennium Falcon has been unveiled.
The latest edition of Fortune magazine offers a close-up look at Han Solo's spacecraft, which will feature in the seventh instalment in the sci-fi saga Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Previously dubbed the "fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy", the new Falcon stands behind Disney CEO Bob Iger on the magazine's January 2015 cover.
The ship first appeared in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, where it was piloted by Han Solo, portrayed by Harrison Ford, and Chewbacca.
Yannick Dusseault, the visual effects art director for the film at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), created the detailed images, and the Falcon was then rendered in wireframe form (a skeletal version) as well as a more layered "textured render", and later combined in Photoshop.
Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will reprise their roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, alongside newcomers such as Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson and Andy Serkis.
The film, directed by JJ Abrams, will be released in December 2015.
