Paltrow unsure about Avengers role

Gwyneth Paltrow reckons her character Pepper Potts will not make an appearance in Joss Whedon's forthcoming film of The Avengers.

The Oscar-winning actress, who portrays the assistant in Iron Man and Iron Man 2, is unsure whether Pepper would make a cameo alongside her boss Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), with superheroes Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).

"No, no Pepper - I think it's a 'for sure'. I think they're starting shooting soon and they probably would have asked me by now," she told Collider.

Also starring in the upcoming film would be Chris Hemsworth as Thor, while Scarlett Johansson and Don Cheadle will reprise their roles in Iron Man 2 as Black Widow and James 'Rhodey' Rhodes respectively.

The Avengers, directed and co-written by Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss, has a tentative release date of May 2012.
