Paula Patton has revealed how husband Robin Thicke is "proud" of her new film - but also beefed up to compete with her Mission Impossible-honed physique.
The 36-year-old actress, who gave birth five months before getting the part, trained for two-and-a-half hours a day to prepare for her role as field agent Jane Carter in Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, the fourth movie in the blockbuster franchise.
"It's definitely inspired Robin to start working out in a different way because he's like, 'You can't be stronger than me! This can't happen!'," she said.
"I'd come home and show him a new move I learnt. Then suddenly he was hitting the gym hard. He's very competitive, my husband!" the Precious star added.
Despite their gym rivalry, Paula revealed that she and her Grammy-winning singer husband - who have been together since their early teens - are supportive of each other every step of the way.
"He's so proud of me. Robin and I have been together since we were kids, so we've dreamt these dreams - him of being a singer, myself of being an actress," she continued.
"When each one of us accomplishes a new goal, it's a great satisfaction."
Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, which also stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg, opens in cinemas on December 26.
