Piling pounds tough for Hutcherson

Josh Hutcherson has revealed that putting on weight for his latest film wasn't as much fun as it sounds.

The 19-year-old had to pile on 15 pounds of muscle for the role of Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games.

"It took about four weeks but it was a lot of eating. That was the hardest part - eating a lot of protein," he said on the red carpet.

"I was eating things I don't like and not eating Pop-Tarts and cereal like I love. It was just always eating grilled chicken breast all the time. By the tenth one of the day, I'm like, 'I can't swallow this bite. It's too much'."

Josh also revealed how a prank on co-star Jennifer Lawrence, who plays heroine Katniss Everdeen, left her wetting her pants - literally.

"I got Jennifer pretty bad once," he admitted.

"I made her pee in her pants after I put a lifesize dummy in her bathroom in her trailer. She went in to go to the bathroom, got terrified ... so that was a success for sure."

:: The Hunger Games opens in cinemas on March 23.
