Pine: More love for Ryan than Kirk
Chris Pine has revealed that he enjoys the character of Jack Ryan more than Star Trek's Captain Kirk.
The 33-year-old is set to portray stockbroker-turned-CIA agent in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, a role he has coveted for over three years.
"I came to it with a great amount of love for the character, way more than I had for Kirk. I love the spy genre and that is the truth," he told Empire.
The latest Jack Ryan film, directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh, will be the fifth instalment of the spy series and Chris is the fourth actor to take on the role, following in the footsteps of Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck.
The actor said Harrison and Alec are the "meaningful ones", explaining: "What Harrison did I love so much. He had an inherent humility. He is a man more comfortable teaching, more comfortable in his books.
"Alec was so quick and incisive. I loved the fact that in The Hunt For Red October, in order to prevent nuclear catastrophe it was one man having to decode the mind of another."
Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner also star in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, which will be released in January 24, 2014.
