Potter director casts new spell

Harry Potter director David Yates has found his next project.

The filmmaker, who made the last four titles in the series about the boy wizard, told Variety his next film would be made on a much lower budget.

The British director will be making a film adaptation of Your Voice In My Head, a memoir by Emma Forrest which explores the personal crisis she faced when a romance fell apart and her psychiatrist died.

He told Variety of the movie: "It's a small film, hard-hitting and with elements of magic realism.

"Compared to Potter it would cost tuppence ha'penny, and for that reason it would be incredibly liberating to make."

Emma - an English novelist, screenwriter and journalist based in Los Angeles - has written the screenplay, which is set in New York, London and Istanbul.

David is also developing a Doctor Who movie, saying: "It's a long journey and we're going to take our time with it."
