Rodriguez: Alba inspired Spy Kids 4
Jessica Alba inspired the fourth Spy Kids film, director Robert Rodriguez has revealed.
The third instalment of the franchise, 2003's Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, was intended to be the finale, but working with the lead actress on Machete soon inspired the writer-director to revive the family-friendly adventures with Spy Kids: All The Time In The World in 4D.
"The whole movie was inspired by her. When I was making Machete with her, she showed up on the set, brought her baby and the baby's diaper had exploded so seeing her all dressed up in heels looking like a spy already, I thought 'Oh my gosh, if she was a spy on a spy mission and she couldn't find a babysitter, that would be a really great image for a spy kids movie'," he told Entertainment Tonight.
"I mentioned it to her, and two years ago we started writing it."
In Spy Kids: All The Time In The World, Jessica plays a retired secret agent, who has to raise a new baby and is struggling to win over her twin stepkids (Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook) from her husband (Joel McHale).
