Ruth fears forgetting steps as she prepares to shine on Strictly debut
With her hair scraped back into a ponytail and a nervous smile, Ruth Langsford rehearses her first Strictly dance with partner Anton Du Beke.
The 57-year-old This Morning and Loose Women presenter - and wife of our very own Eamonn Holmes - will join the other contestants making their competition debuts on the hit BBC1 show tonight.
In a video post on Facebook yesterday Ruth said she was trying to stay calm ahead of a rehearsal dance-through. "I'm convinced I've forgotten all the steps, I've been trying to go through it in my head and there's loads of it I can't remember," she said. "Thank you for all your lovely messages... I will do my best tomorrow, what's the worst that can happen? Don't answer that!"
Other contestants taking part include JLS star Aston Merrygold (29), Scottish comedian Susan Calman (42) and Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson (32). Debbie McGee (58) has said that taking part in the show has made her happy for the first time since the death of her husband Paul Daniels.
EastEnders' Davood Ghadami (35) said the first day in the studio left his brain "scrambled", and singer Alexandra Burke (29) was given an emotional new reason to perform at her best when her mother recently died. The Hallelujah star said that everything she does "is for her".
Meanwhile, TV star Brian Conley (56) is a self-proclaimed "dad dancer", while ITV newsreader Charlotte Hawkins admitted that she has a few nerves ahead of the first leg of the competition.
