Sean Bean back in Belfast to film Frankenstein

By Colin O'Carroll

Game of Thrones star Sean Bean is becoming quite a regular visitor to Northern Ireland and has been back in Belfast for more filming.

The action hero, who is also famous for his swashbuckling Sharpe series, was spotted on set off University Road in the city yesterday.

He is here to film a further series of ITV's Frankenstein Chronicles.

The previous six-part drama series was also filmed here.

As well as being known for his tough guy roles - including as Boromir in Lord of the Rings - Bean has also garnered critical recognition with an international Emmy award for his role as a transvestite.

He also scooped the best actor award at 2013's Royal Television Society Programme Awards for his performance in Accused as a cross-dressing teacher.

Bean is also known as a diehard Sheffield United fan and sports a tattoo boasting '100 per cent Blade'.

The shooting of the latest series of the Frankenstein Chronicles is the latest coup for the local film industry.
