Will Smith apparently wants Emma Thompson to rewrite the musical Annie.
After co-starring in Men In Black III, Will has asked the British actress and scriptwriter to adapt the musical remake, which would star his daughter Willow, reported Vulture.
Emma, who plays Agent O in the third instalment of the extra-terrestrial franchise, is no stranger to writing, having penned the screenplays for Sense And Sensibility - which won her an Oscar - and the Nanny McPhee films.
The new adaptation of the 1982 musical will be produced by Willow's parents Will and Jada through their Overbrook Entertainment company.
Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad told Variety: "The time is right to bring back Annie to the big screen. We're true believers in Willow's talent and believe she will be perfect in this role."
Jay-Z, who previously sampled one of the musical's signature songs for Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem), is tipped to work on the music for the film.
Aileen Quinn starred as the red-headed orphan in the original 1982 movie, while Alicia Morton portrayed her in the 1999 Disney TV film.
