Smith set for NFL concussion drama
Will Smith looks set to star in an upcoming film about head injuries in America's National Football League (NFL).
The as-yet-untitled movie from producer Ridley Scott is based on a 2009 GQ article titled Game Brain and is described as a whistle-blower that will explore the effects of concussion on athletes.
Will is in talks to play Dr Bennet Omalu, who first discovered chronic traumatic encephalopathy in professional football players, reported Variety.
Sports fan Scott apparently came up with the idea for what is expected to be a morality tale on the issue after hearing about what some football players have been through as a result of trauma to the head.
Peter Landesman will write and direct the film.
The movie is one of several projects about traumatic brain injuries in the NFL that are in the pipeline.
