Sophie Turner has said she “hated” the Jonas Brothers before she met and fell in love with Joe Jonas.

The Game Of Thrones actress, who married the US pop star last year, also said she feels she is “punching above her league” with him, although she thought he would “be a d**k” before she first met him.

Turner told Elle UK magazine: “My friends and I were not Jonas Brothers fans. We liked Busted.

“They had a hit called Year 3000, it was amazing. We were huge fans. Then the Jonas Brothers covered the song and made it massive, and Busted broke up.

“It was all the Jonas Brothers’ fault. So we hated them.”

Busted had a hit with Year 3000 in 2003 before splitting in 2005.

The Jonas Brothers – comprised of Joe and his siblings Nick and Kevin – released their cover version in 2007.

The British star, 24, said that when she first met Joe, 30, she “expected him to show up with security and everything”.

She said: “I thought he would be such a d**k. I took all my guy friends with me to meet him, because in the back of my mind I was worried he could be a catfish, or… I don’t know what. I just wanted my guy friends with me. I had my rugby boys. I was safe.

“The best thing was that he didn’t bring security.”

On their first date, she added: “He brought a friend and they drank just as hard as the rest of us.

“I remember us two spending only a couple of minutes on the dance floor, and then we found a space in the far corner and we just talked.

“We talked for hours, and hours, and hours. And I wasn’t bored. It wasn’t contrived, it wasn’t small talk – it was just so easy.

“Soon, we were inseparable. And then I went on tour with him.”

The couple married in May last year in a surprise ceremony in Las Vegas after the Billboard Music Awards.

The marriage came 18 months after they announced their engagement in October 2017, after being in a relationship for more than a year.

Turner, who played Sansa Stark in Game Of Thrones from 2011 until it ended last year, said that not much has changed for her in marriage, apart from “having this incredible sense of security”.

“Just the word ‘husband’ and the word ‘wife’ – they solidify the relationship.”

She said: “I love being married. I think it’s wonderful.

“I’m sure we’ll have our hiccups, but right now the security and the safety are everything.”
