Spacek 'comic relief' in The Help

Sissy Spacek says her character in new movie The Help acts as the film's "comic relief".

She plays Mrs Walters, mother of Bryce Dallas Howard's character Hilly, in the adaptation of Kathryn Stockett's hit novel about race relations and servants in 1960s Mississippi.

"I have a little touch of Alzheimer's and I get to say everything nobody else will say, I'm kind of the comic relief," she explained.

"She has moments of great clarity and then other moments where she's in la-la land."

The Oscar-winning actress features in an ensemble cast which also includes Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Jessica Chastain.

And Jessica turned out in support when Sissy was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week.
