Spielberg considers Jurassic Park 4

Steven Spielberg has apparently met with Poseidon screenwriter Mark Protosevich to discuss how to re-boot the Jurassic Park franchise.

The Oscar-winning director has had two meetings with the writer to work on a story for a potential fourth film, The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog claims.

The pair previously collaborated on a possible remake of South Korean film director Chan-wook Park's Oldboy which did not end up getting made.

Universal, which released the dinosaur trilogy, and Spielberg's team are said to have insisted no one has been hired to pen a script and that the discussions have been purely to explore ideas.

The first Jurassic Park film, starring Sam Neill and Laura Dern, was released in 1993 and has been hailed as a landmark in the use of CGI (computer-generated imagery).

A sequel, The Lost World, was released in 1997, with Jurassic Park III brought out in 2001.

Spielberg directed the first two films and was an executive producer on the third.
