Viggo Mortensen will be given the fourth annual Dennis Lee Hopper Award at a Californian arts festival.
The Road actor is also a writer, poet and visual artist which qualifies him to be given the award, says TheWrap.
AMFM (Art, Music, Film and More) Fest at Coachella Valley is being held for the first time and Viggo's art will be shown there as well as a documentary he appears in, Wild Horses And Renegades.
The award, which recognises artists who work across different fields and promote social change, was given to Dennis in 2010 after his death.
AMFM Fest co-director Robert Galarza said: "Dennis believed that to be an artist, you had to embrace all the arts.
"Viggo has his photography, painting, writing, poetry and philosophical musings in addition to his acting ability, and he has no great ego as an artist. He allows the art to move through him like a vessel, which is how Dennis saw the world."
Viggo will be appearing later this year in con-artist thriller The Two Faces Of January with Kirsten Dunst.
