Watch: First look at Northern Ireland beauty queens looking for love

The second series of Beauty Queen and Single is returning to television screens next week and BBC Northern Ireland has released two teaser trailers for the upcoming show.

The six-part series kicks off on Monday, January 15 following the success of its pilot programme last year.

It saw former Miss Great Britain Gemma Garrett scale back her usual style to find Mr Right, and showed viewers her natural beauty.

She proceeded to go on five back-to-back dates, and chose one lucky man to meet again for a second time.

Fans of the series were disappointed there was only one episode to enjoy and now a new run of shows will see Gemma being joined by ex-Miss Irelands Rebecca Maguire and Karen Montague, former Miss Derry and Big Brother star Ashleigh Coyle, and ex-Miss Belfast Orlaith McAllister, who appeared in Big Brother, too.

Also there will be a former Miss Earth Northern Ireland Amira Graham.

The BBC's official blurb for the show describes how "six bare-faced beauty queens strip off the make-up, shake off the stilettos and go au naturel to see if beauty is just skin deep when it comes to finding the perfect partner".

Ahead of the series opener, a trailer for the show has been released by BBC NI with Rebecca telling the camera: "I will arrive late, I'm not going to arrive ugly" while Gemma added: "If I was going out on a Saturday night, I would start getting ready during the week."

In a second teaser video, former Big Brother contestant Ashleigh explains: "I think a lot of people would pre-judge me. It's very easy to think that I love myself and that I think the world revolves around me."

Beauty Queen and Single airs on BBC NI on Monday, January 15 at 10.40pm.
