Watch: Jon Snow warns 'the enemy is real' in new Game of Thrones trailer

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives"

A new extended trailer for the upcoming series of Game of Thrones has been released as Jon Snow is heard declaring 'the enemy is real'.

The two minute clip features epic battle scenes as the premiere for the penultimate season of the fantasy series draws closer.

Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, can be heard speaking over the scenes saying: "For centuries our families fought together against their common enemy, despite their differences.

"We need to do the same if we're going to survive because the enemy is real. It has always been real."

The new series of the award-winning show will continue the epic tale of the seven kingdoms of Westeros as Cersei and Jaime Lannister (Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) work to maintain their hold over King's Landing.

The Iron Throne of Westeros.

Meanwhile, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow remain a threat to their hold on the throne.

The seventh season of the show, based on George RR Martin’s books, will be slightly shorter than previous series but all but one episode will hold a feature-length running time.

The popular HBO programme, which is partly filmed in Northern Ireland, will begin its penultimate season on July 17.

Previous seasons of the HBO show have premiered in April, however it was announced season 7 would not be broadcasting until July after filming was delayed to later in the year, as 'Winter is here' in the land of Westeros.
