Whitaker to play White House butler
Forest Whitaker looks set to play a White House butler in a new movie.
The 50-year-old actor - who clinched an Oscar for his portrayal of Idi Amin in 2006 film The Last King Of Scotland - is currently in talks to star as Eugene Allen, who served under eight US Presidents from 1952 to 1986, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A host of other stars are also said to be in the frame for parts in The Butler, including David Oyelowo, Hugh Jackman, John Cusack, Liam Neeson and Mila Kunis.
It has previously been reported that US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey could be cast as the butler's wife.
The period drama is based on an article that appeared in The Washington Post.
It will be directed by Lee Daniels, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his 2009 drama Precious.
