William Shatner open to Star Trek return but 'it won't happen'
Actor William Shatner says he would be willing to return to Star Trek, but he believes that it will never happen.
The 85-year-old played Captain James Kirk in the classic 1960s television series and the first seven Star Trek films.
He has been linked with a return to the Starship Enterprise since director JJ Abrams rebooted the movie franchise in 2009.
Speaking in Los Angeles, Shatner said: "We'd all be open to it, but it's not going to happen.
"The fans would love to see it. Have them write to JJ Abrams at Paramount Studios."
Shatner also confirmed he would not appear in the upcoming film Star Trek Beyond, which stars Chris Pine as Captain Kirk.
Reports suggested Shatner could return to the series after the late Leonard Nimoy reprised his role as Spock in the 2009 film Star Trek and its sequel Star Trek: Into Darkness.
