Winslet set for Labour Day role

Kate Winslet is set for a leading role in Labour Day, it has been reported.

The Oscar-winning actress is tipped to star in the big-screen adaptation of Joyce Maynard's novel, which will be scripted and directed by Up In The Air filmmaker Jason Reitman, said Deadline.

Kate - who currently stars in HBO series Mildred Pierce - would play a single mother of a young son who takes in a stranger with a dangerous past, rumoured to be Josh Brolin, and falls in love with him over the course of Labour Day weekend.

The movie will shoot in 2012 in New England.

The British star has completed Steven Soderbergh's action-thriller Contagion with Matt Damon, and comedy drama Carnage, Roman Polanski's adaptation of the acclaimed play, God Of Carnage, which also stars Jodie Foster, Christoph Waltz and John C Reilly.
