Witherspoon to Downsize for movie?
Reese Witherspoon is set to play Matt Damon's wife in satirical sci-fi movie Downsizing.
The Wild actress would be reunited with Election filmmaker Alexander Payne if she signs on, reported Deadline.
The social satire, written by Alexander and Jim Taylor, tells the story of a man (Matt) and his wife, who voluntarily decide to have themselves shrink in size to better their lives - but the wife backs out at the last minute.
Reese, who starred alongside Matthew Broderick in Alexander's dark comedy Election, was due to join an earlier version of Downsizing in 2009, when Paul Giamatti was attached to play the lead.
It is not known if Sacha Baron Cohen, who was linked to the earlier production, will have a role in the film.
Production is expected to begin after Matt has completed his next Bourne film.
Reese, who stars as US author Cheryl Strayed in Wild, will next be seen in Paul Thomas Anderson's crime comedy-drama Inherent Vice alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro.
The 38-year-old actress will also star in action-comedy Don't Mess With Texas with Sofia Vergara, Sean Penn and David Oyelowo.
