Wright to direct Peter Pan origins?

Joe Wright could be set to direct a Peter Pan origins movie.

The award-winning British director of Pride And Prejudice, Atonement, Hanna and Anna Karenina is in talks with Warner Bros according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Arrow's Greg Berlanti is producing the project and actor-turned-writer Jason Fuchs, who penned Ice Age: Continental Drift, has written the script.

Warners is said to be making the project a priority, and is the latest studio to be developing a Peter Pan spin-off project.

Columbia is developing Pan with Channing Tatum, while Disney, which made the classic animated film, is adapting the prequel novel Peter And The Starcatchers, by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, with Gary Ross attached to direct.

J M Barrie actually wrote her own back story for Peter Pan in her 1906 novel Peter Pan In Kensington Gardens. It tells the story of how a baby Peter flew out of the window of his London home and befriends a host of fairies and animals in Kensington Gardens. When he decides to go home he finds his mother has had a new baby and he believes she doesn't want him any more.

Her 1904 play and 1911 novel both tell the most famous story of Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up, and his adventures in Neverland with Wendy Darling, fairy Tinkerbell, the Lost Boys and Captain Hook.

The character of Peter Pan was inspired by Barrie's older brother, who died in an ice-skating accident the day he was 13 and so remained a boy in his mother's mind forever.
